WRANGLERS

These individuals are crucial to Central Bark! They monitor the dogs in play groups to insure their safety and enjoyment during daycare and boarding. Candidates should enjoy working with people and dogs, be comfortable in a room full of dogs, and be able to keep up with the rigorous cleaning and non-glamorous side of caring for dogs. Must be detail oriented and mentally alert, have a positive attitude, be in good physical condition and possess the ability to multi-task.

Position requires:

  • Ability to work in a group as well as independently
  • Knowledge of dog breeds and behaviors
  • Must have the ability to stand on your feet for long periods of time and tolerate loud noises (7 hour shifts)
  • Lift up to 50 pounds
  • Must have the ability to continually bend over and keep up with cleaning
  • Prior animal handling experience preferred but not required

GREETERS

The face of Central Bark! Our greeters are the first welcoming face our dogs and customers see and they direct everyone to the proper place for any given service either in person or on the phone. Candidates must have excellent customer service skills, as well as enjoying working with people and dogs, be comfortable in a room full of dogs, and be able to keep up with the rigorous cleaning and non-glamorous side of caring for dogs. Must be detail oriented and mentally alert, have a positive attitude, be in good physical condition and possess the ability to multi-task.

Position requires:

  • Ability to work in a group as well as independently
  • Have basic computer skills and excellent customer service and phone skills
  • Prior animal handling and grooming experience preferred but not required
  • Knowledge of dog breeds and behaviors
  • Must have the ability to stand on your feet for long periods of time and constantly be moving (this is not a desk job)
  • Ability to tolerate loud noises (7 hour shifts)
  • Lift up to 50 pounds

PARK DRIVERS

These individuals transport dogs from our facility to our private off-leash dog park for park adventures. Individuals should enjoy working outside in all types of weather. Candidate must be comfortable working with people and dogs and have a positive attitude. We are looking for individuals who are in good physical condition, have the ability to multi-task and can represent Central Bark with professionalism and integrity. A passion for dogs is a must! Self-direction, motivation and dependability are crucial to this position. We require a valid Washington driver’s license and clean driving record.

Position requires:

  • Monitoring play interaction
  • Maintaining Dog Park
  • Cleaning and maintaining our transport vehicles
  • Ability to work in a group and well as independently
  • Knowledge of dog breeds and behaviors
  • Ability to lift up to 65 pounds
  • Must have the ability to continually bend over and keep up with cleaning
  • Prior animal handling experience (other than owning your own dog) preferred but not required
  • Prior experience driving cargo preferred but also not required

GROOMERS

Our grooming department operates 7 days a week doing both haircuts and baths. Candidates must be flexible, willing to share space with other grooming staff and genuinely interested in growing their grooming clientele. Groomers must be good communicators that are able to provide excellent customer service to our clients. Groomers must be able to do full grooms including hand scissoring, be in good physical condition, be able to multi-task, and represent Central Bark with professionalism and integrity. Must also provide their own tools.

Position requires:

  • Minimum of one year grooming with experience grooming under a master groomer
  • Performing bath & brushes, partials, and full grooms
  • Ability to follow Central Bark’s grooming standards and protocol
  • Being able to communicate clearly with clients and meet client expectations
  • Provide outstanding customer service
  • Flexibility as demand for grooming fluctuates
  • Ability to maintain a clean and organized work station
  • Being able to work independently as well as with a team
  • Be able to handle challenging dogs with patience and kindness

DOG TRAINERS

Our dog trainers strive to assist all the dogs in our care to become well-behaved and comfortable in a social setting. These individuals all use positive training methods offering daycare and train, board and train, private sessions, training classes and fun seminars.

Position requires:

  • One-on-one training with dogs as well as with dog and owner, daycare and train plus board and train
  • Facilitating weekly classes in multiple levels of obedience from beginner to advanced
  • Assist with training new and existing daycare/kennel staff in dog play behavior to assure safety and healthy play habits
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Assisting existing Central Bark customers in understanding their dogs’ behavior and how to make corrections when necessary
  • Evaluation of new client’s dogs to assess their suitability in our daycare playrooms.

MANAGEMENT STAFF

These positions (General Manager, Assistant Manager, Floor Supervisor, etc.) require animal behavior knowledge, the ability to manage daily work flow and ensure staff meets their daily job standards. Must be dependable, detail oriented, good oral and written skills, and possess the ability to stand on your feet for long periods of time, lift up to 60 pounds, ability to bathe dogs, basic computer skills and excellent customer service and phone skills.

All management staff work weekends and holidays (these are some of our busiest times). Management staff must also enjoy working with people and dogs, feel comfortable in a room full of dogs, be capable of keeping up with the rigorous cleaning and non-glamorous side of caring for dogs, be detail oriented, mentally alert, in good physical condition and possess the ability to multi-task. These positions also require individuals with outstanding positive attitudes, the ability to stand on their feet for long periods of time, tolerate loud noises (7 hour shifts), lift up to 50 pounds, and have the ability to continually bend over and keep up with cleaning.

Position requires:

  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Professional knowledge of dog breeds and animal behavior
  • Experience in a dog daycare or playgroup setting
  • Supervisory experience with the proven ability to manage daily work flow and ensure staff meets their daily job standards.
  • Computer skills, excellent customer service skills, attention to detail
  • Good oral and written skills
  • Ability to bathe dogs and trim nails

All the positions at Central Bark will be staffed with individuals who thrive on dealing with the public, have an energetic personality, enjoy multi-tasking and have a genuine interest in dogs, their behavior and wish to increase their knowledge of dogs. All positions are evening, morning and weekend shifts and the candidates must be willing to work holidays (these are some of our busiest times).

Disclaimer: None of the positions at Central Bark, including management positions, are not desk jobs. There will also be bathing of dogs, trimming their nails and expressing anal glands by every member of our staff. Staff, including management, are on their feet and continually active. Additionally, if being in a room full of 20 dogs makes you uncomfortable, or if you do not see yourself picking up dog feces, then this is probably not the right organization for you.
